Campus-wide Day of Service

The DUNY Interfaith Connect team will be hosting a Campus-wide Day of Service on Tuesday, November 18th from 12:00pm-3:30pm in the Granito Extension.听

We will be packing hygiene kits that will be donated to the Afya Foundation for their humanitarian projects.听 This project is made possible through the support of the Faith and Health grant we were awarded by Interfaith America.

These enhancements will help cultivate interfaith competency through planned service work with diverse populations and through guided discussions highlighting the commonalities and differences in the ways diverse faith traditions approach topics related to healthcare, well-being, spirituality, personal vocation, care of the earth, and concern for others.

Trunk or Treat

The Office of Student Engagement invites faculty and staff to be part of this year鈥檚听Trunk听or听Treat听on听Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:30鈥�7:30 p.m.

This is one of our favorite community traditions 鈥� last year we welcomed over听200 families, but we only had about听10 decorated cars.听This year, we need your help and support to make the event听bigger and better than ever!
Departments, classes, and teams are encouraged to join by听decorating a听trunk 听and handing out candy to families. All听trunks will automatically be entered into our听Car Competitions听 for categories like听Fan Favorite, Best Overall Theme,听and听Most Creative Decorations,听with prizes for the winners!

We鈥檙e also collecting听candy donations听so we have backup in case听trunks run out during the event. Donations can be dropped off anytime between now and October 23 at the听CSEC (Granito 206).
There will be听fun for all ages and听desserts for purchase from La Casa Di Dolce. This event is a true听community celebration for ALL of DUNY听鈥� so whether you participate with a听trunk, donate candy,听or听just attend with your family, we鈥檇 love for you to be part of it.

Gia Merlo, MD MBA MEd

Dr. Gia Merlo, clinical professor of psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, is renowned for her expertise in well-being and lifestyle medicine, and for developing the field of lifestyle Psychiatry. As a fellow of the American College of lifestyle Medicine and a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Merlo is at the fore front of expanding evidence-based approaches to prevent, treat, and reverse psychiatric and behavioral disorders.

Her peer-reviewed articles and four books for healthcare professionals are grounded in science, drawn from psychology, psychiatry, and lifestyle medicine. With over thirty years of experience in clinical care and medical education, she continues to inspire and empower individuals to prioritize their wellbeing and adopt healthier lifestyles.

鈥淒oing Business Right鈥� Night

Please join us for our “finest hour” at our 5th Annual Doing Business Right (DBR) Night on Wednesday, December 3rd at 4pm in the Holt Room in the Hennessy Center on DUNY’s campus.

We call DBR Night our “finest hour” because it is when some of our top students share their best projects, internships, or other experiences with the DUNY community. In just over one hour, you will see:

The Market Research project conducted by our students for the Village of Nyack
A summary of our Palisades Institute research and forum on “Managing a Remote Workforce”
A Sports Media & Promotion project on NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness)
An Information Systems project conducted by IT students this semester
Four winning poster presentations for the Nike marketing project in our Senior Capstone
Highlights of student moderated podcasts from DUNIFY – our new space on Spotify

We will also preview some of the innovation and research that is taking place next semester – including work on tariffs and AI.
